Can it be any MORE invasive than AOL? It's gonna take a complete hard drive reformat to get rid of that.

prolly not more invasive, but just as bad, and easy enough to work around

Yup, that was before Excite went belly up.

One of the probs was with how many subscribers were on my "node". Apparently quite a few since there were times that sucker just crawled.

Personally i prefer DSL for the guaranteed bandwidth. I know there are people like baimun who basically aren't sharing their connection with anyone else (yet ) and cable works great for them, but where i'm at, cable is overused.

Sure, you get much higher bandwidth initial, so it's great for surfing, but cable works in bursts, and the longer you connect to a single device, the slower your connection becomes (gotta fight the file sharers ).

With DSL, you may only get 750 instead of 1.4, but it's guaranteed and you get it no matter what you're doing...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I had a free cable modem when I worked for Comcast. It was hit and miss at the time. Since then I vowed I wouldn't pay over $30 a month for broadband services.

Funny, there had only been 3 times in the last 6 years that I have had a problem with the cable modem or connection.and two of those were back when Excite was running the game.
